1. Overview

Heading Extractor ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that extracts heading text (H2, H3, H4, H5) from webpages you choose to visit, and formats that text into a hierarchical outline. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension interacts with and how it is handled.

2. What Data the Extension Accesses

The Extension accesses the following, and only when you actively click the extension icon and use its features:

• Webpage content: The text content of heading elements (H2–H5) on the currently active tab.
• Page title: The title of the webpage, used to label collected articles.

3. What Data the Extension Does NOT Collect

The Extension does not collect, access, or transmit any of the following:

• Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
• Health information
• Financial or payment information
• Authentication credentials or passwords
• Personal communications (emails, messages, chats)
• Location data
• Browsing history
• User activity such as keystrokes, mouse movement, or clicks

4. How Data Is Used

Any heading text extracted from a webpage is used solely to:

• Display a formatted preview within the extension popup
• Copy the formatted text to your device's clipboard, at your request
• Optionally, store a temporary local collection of extracted articles if you use the "Add More Articles" feature

5. Data Storage

Any data saved by the Extension (such as your heading-level preferences or a collection of extracted articles) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API. This data:

• Is never transmitted to any external server
• Is never shared with the developer or any third party
• Remains on your device until you clear it (via the "Clear Collection" button) or uninstall the Extension

6. Data Sharing

The Extension does not sell, rent, transfer, or share any user data with third parties. No data collected or processed by the Extension ever leaves your browser.

7. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with, send data to, or rely on any third-party services, analytics providers, or advertising networks.

8. Permissions Explained

• activeTab: Allows the Extension to read heading content from the tab you are currently viewing, only when you click the extension icon.
• clipboardWrite: Allows the Extension to copy formatted heading text to your clipboard.
• scripting: Allows the Extension to run a script on the active page to find and extract heading elements.
• storage: Allows the Extension to save your preferences and collected articles locally on your device.

9. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this same URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
